Siyabonga Mngomezulu better known as CYA was born in the dusty streets of Ermelo in Mpumalanga 1994 and moved to Dundonald 2001 due to his Primary and Secondary Education.

 

Like every rapper, he developed the love and passion for music back in High School, being close to his school friends always listening to artist like Maraza, Zulu Boy, K.O, PRO, Zakwe, Lungelo and Red Button

 

In 2009 CYA decided to start writing his own lyrics, record with his phone and let his friends be his first critics

 

Just after his matric completion in 2013 he decided to follow his dream and persue his solo music career, released singles which did good on radio and got a chance to showcase his talent on national Television, audition on SA Got Talent – 2013, Shot his first professional music video with STQ Pictures, Live Performances on National & Community Radio Stations which boosted his fanbase.

 

Apart from getting inspiration from other artists, the boy curved a niche for himself as a prolific song writer and rapper, his style is palatable and matured enough for his age, geared for radio.

Promisingly appeals to a wide audience but yet has a bit of kasi flavour and gritty with catchy english and zulu hooks.

 

History was made when CYA entered “Route 40 Talent Search – 2013” at Casterbridge Music Development Academy (CMDA) and took the 2nd place from a lots of other hopefulls which gave him a chance to share a stage with Vusi Mahlasela, Prime Circle, ISO, Paige Mac & more at THE ROUTE 40 MUSIC FESTIVAL which was held at White River, Mpumalanga.

 

Late 2014 CYA was discovered by the award winning threatre actor and SABC Radio personality Biziwe Masango of Ikwekwezi FM who signed him under his company Matwetwe Entertainment (Pty) Ltd.

 

From there, the boy just clicked to the whole lots of people. According to him, success is not just success for him but for Mpumalanga as a whole.

 

By this short period of time, he managed to work with Thulibathi, Bertrum (Tanzania), J-Arrow, Jay Spitter, Nicey Beats, Biziwe, Swatie KhingKhong,L-Boss, Weza, BYK, Mr Zetman, Kenanji (Malawi) & Bluetooth

He was interviewed and his music got/is playlisted on various national and community radio stations including Ukhozi FM, Ikwekwezi FM, Lesedi FM, Jozi FM, Vow FM, VOC FM, Ligwalagwala FM, 5 FM, UJ FM, Rise FM, Radio Today FM, BCR FM, Metro FM, Emalahleni FM, NWU FM, iGagasi FM, SBIS2 (Swaziland), Vuma FM just to name a few.

Due to all the hype that has been floading the streets, CYA got profiled and has articles about him and his music career published on Newspapers and Magazines such as Daily Sun, Tribune, Mpumalanga News, Sunday Sun, KHANYISA, Ermelo Insight, Zkhiphani Magazine & HYPE Magazine.

Appeared and performed on SABC 1 Mzansi Insider and YOTV Big Breakfast Show.

The boy boost so much energy on stage, he shared stages with the likes of Black Coffee, Mr Style, Biziwe Masango, Madumane, The BigZil OnAir, Shabba, DJ Vigilante, Ma-E, Kid X to name a few.

2013 CYA released an EP (The Entry) featuring AB Crazy, Weza, Kenanji, Bertrum, Mr. Zetman, Unique Element and P Master L which he launched live on Ligwalagwala FM. Now he is currently working on an Extended Project to be released under Matwetwe Entertainment (Pty) Ltd. His latest singles “iMali” featuring Jay Spitter of Mabala Noise (Nominated as Best Hiphop Song Of Year at the MP Sunshine Awards 2016), “Senza Kaso” featuring Thulibathi  and “uyazi” is now out on radio and on itunes, to be followed by Music Videos soon.
